Chapter One
Dave
My new owl, Tooty-Fruity, hoots indignantly at me, and I smile apologetically. There aren’t any seats left on the Hogwarts express.
That is, until I see a relatively empty compartment. The only person sat in there, is a girl around my age. I struggle to open the door and keep hold of Tooty-Fruity, but eventually, I manage it.
“Hey, is there room in here?” I ask hestitantly. “No.” The girl says, not looking away from the window. “Oh.” I start to close the sliding door.
“I’m kidding!” The girl says, starting to laugh as she tears herself away from the window. I’m shocked-She’s beautiful. She has thick, black lashes and mauve eyes. Her red-brown, uneven hair with hot pink and neon yellow looks really shiny. It’s obvious that she’s not wearing any make-up on her rose-bud shaped lips-A natural beauty.
“Oh.” I stammer again, sounding like an idiot, and dragging my trunk over to a spare chair. I make sure to keep Tooty-Fruity away from her amber eyed black cat, sat on her lap.
The girl’s staring out the window again, despite the rocking of the train, she draws a realistic drawing of a cat pouncing on an owl and breaking its neck. She catches me staring and grins, showing sharp teeth off. “First year too?”
“Yeah.”
The girl looks almost nervous for a moment, before there’s a knock a the compartment glass. I open the door to see an old woman standing with a cart of sweets I’ve never seen before.
“Anything from the trolley, dears?” She asks me, as the girl quickly wipes away the blood she was adding to the window drawing.
“A cauldron cake, please.” The girl says, appearing behind me, and passing two silver coins to the woman. “Thankee-Sankee.” She says, once she gets a cardboard box.
Chapter Two
Fay
I start to eat the Cauldron Cake as soon as I sit down. Only looking up when I hear a sound of disgust. I find the nervous boy holding a pack of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans. I bite back smile-So cutely muggle-born not to know about those sweets.
“You knew that would happen!” He accuses me, I’m annoyed but don’t let it show.
“No. It’s completely random what you get.” I reply, breaking into a laugh, he looks slightly hurt, “You must be Muggle-born.” The boy frowns.
“No-My name’s Dave.” This remark makes my sleeky black cat-Shooting-Star (After the broom brand) snigger.
“I mean, you’re parents aren’t magic. By the way-I’m Fay.” I explain, Dave smiles at my name, and I fight down a blush. Why is it, when he smiled, my heart fluttered?
“So you’re parents are…?”
“I’m a pureblood-My parents are a witch and wizard.”
“Aah.”
I continue to stare out the rain spotted glass, the window has fogged up again, so I can’t see anything more than a few barren trees. “You’ve done that five times since I entered.” Dave says, I turn, once again, towards him, he looks concerned, his golden brown hair creasing in his eyebrows. I try not to look at his emerald green eyes too long.
“I like the rain.” I answer simply, not wanting to get tangled in the old memories. Dave nods, gullibly believing the lie.
“Hey…We’ll be arriving at Hogwarts soon-I’ll leave if you want to change into your robes.” He says, after a long conversation over  a thing called a TV. I snort in contempt-Like I care if he sees my underwear. “No worries.” I say, reaching over Shooting-Star to where my battered suitcase waits, and pulls out the freshly laundered clothes.
I hear Dave gasp when I turn away and shamelessly pull my t-shirt over my hair.
After five minutes, we’re both dressed and peering out the window to see how far it is till we arrive.
It’s hard to help Dave struggle off the train, with his bulky suitcases and his stupid owl hooting at me all the way.
The station is strangely subdued, my brother’s lied about the gamekeeper greeting us, there’s no one there, the crowd just pushes us towards the horseless carriages instead.
I spot a stern faced woman, that must be a teacher and fight my way over to her, Dave following in my wake.
“What’s going on-Aren’t we supposed to take the boats, and get sorted?” I ask demandingly, racking my brains for what my siblings told me about Hogwarts.
“You can’t get sorted. The sorting hat is missing.”
So....My very first half-decent fanfiction! ^^
These are my two Harry Potter OCs, Fay and Dave. They're first years that have just arrived at hogwarts.
Sorry that it's not very interesting....It'll get better-I promise!! :D
